The Lexington County School District One Educational Foundation was formed in 1994 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, educational, charitable organization to serve as a source of funds to support district programs and initiatives that are outside the scope of the district's Annual Fund Budget.

The Foundation is governed by a board of directors made up of district school board members, representatives from local businesses, civic organizations, the district superintendent, district Teacher of the Year, and community citizens.

The mission of the Lexington School District One Foundation is to support the educational process and enrich the quality of life in our community by raising and managing funds.

In an effort to maintain and enhance quality experiences for students in the district, the Foundation

  • Promotes educational and charitable endeavors.
  • Provides for the improvement and enrichment of quality educational programs.
  • Increases community support for and involvement in the district.
  • Provides teacher grants and scholarship to district graduates.


    • The Foundation does not raise funds for general operating expenses nor does it replace diminished public funds. Instead, community gifts provide the “extras” not available through the tax dollar.
