Florida Educational Technology Clearinghouse
Educational Use. A maximum of fifty (50) clipart items may be used in any non-commercial, educational project (report, presentation, display, website, etc.) without special permission. The use of more than fifty clipart items in a single project requires written permission from the Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) at USF.  Please credit FCIT whenever a resource is used. If resources from this site are incorporated into a website, a link to http://etc.usf.edu/clipart must be included on your site. Supporting units: mythology, math diagrams, money, fairy tales, alphabets, animals, and historical figures.

Phillip Martin Clipart
This is a very nice collection of clipart for use in schools.    Supporting units: language arts, science, social studies, holidays, the arts, sports, family and consumer science, and careers.

Free Digital Photos
This is an extensive collection of photographs. Images can be used freely in school projects. Please do not contact the owners to ask for permission as they have been inundated with requests from UK GCSE students. The license agreement covers school use.    Supporting units: animals, business and industry celebrations, food and drink, natural world, people, places, sports and leisure, and transportation.

National Park Geology Image Sources
This page lists public domain image sources that educators may find useful for teaching with national park examples.   Supporting units: geography, geology, and landforms.

Free Public Domain Photo Database
PDPhoto.org is a repository for free public domain photos. Unless something is clearly marked as being copyrighted, you can assume it is free to use. The site has a search feature.   Supporting units: geography, landforms, food, space, plants, ocean, grammar, and animals.

NASA Images and Galleries
NASA's multimedia materials are a  wonderful resource for science themed drawings, graphics, diagrams, and photos.  The database is extensive, containing images, podcasts, and videos.  Supporting units: earth, space, weather, landforms, and oceans.

Botanical Society of America
This is an extensive searchable database for detailed studies of plants. Images may be stored for personal or classroom use, provided that the image displays the unaltered text watermark.  Supporting units in the following areas of plants: geography, morphology, floral ontogeny, lichens, economic botany, carnivorous, pollen, paleobotany, defense mechanisms, and anatomy.

US Geological Survey
A comprehensive list of USGS photos images, podcasts, and videos for public use.  Supporting units: topographic and specialty maps, animals, birds, biology, Native Americans, water, natural hazards, climate change, structures, and landforms.

Teacher Files
This is a nice collection of clipart for use in schools. Many are general resources such as titles, headers, and dividers. Many have instructional focus.    Supporting units: place value, telling time, health, safety, and shapes.

Discovery Education’s Clip Art Gallery
This site contains clipart and animations. Permission is granted to download no more than ten different clip art images with the following restrictions:

  • Any reproduction must be unaltered from its original downloaded form. This includes, but is not limited to, colorization, cropping, or editing.
  • Any use of clip art images on Web sites must credit Discoveryschool.com and include a link to the Discoveryschool.com Web site. Credit must read - "Clip art licensed from the Clip Art Gallery on DiscoverySchool.com"

NOAA Photo Library
This is a great resource for science drawings, maps, graphics, diagrams, and photos.  Credit MUST be given to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/Department of Commerce unless otherwise instructed to give credit to the photographer or other source.  Supporting units: animals, volcanoes, weather, biomes, and landforms, and oceans.

Public Domain Photos and Wallpapers
The images are high quality, high resolution, and offer an artistic approach.   Supporting units: geography, landforms, world religions, art, food, insects, plants, and grammar (using images to represent parts of speech).

Tech4Learning
Pics4Learning has granted permission for teachers and students to use all of the images donated to the Pics4Learning collection. This applies only to images stored on the www.pics4learning.com website. On the contribute page there are also links to other "copyright-friendly" sites.  These do not fall under Pics4Learning guidelines and must be looked at separately.  Supporting units: biomes, animals, art, food, world religions, fractals, holidays, space, landforms, geography, Native Americans, colonial America, Civil War, ancient civilizations, mythology, presidents, World War I, and World War II.

This website is full of vintage recordings.  Supporting units: jazz, blues, country, folk songs, and World War I.

SoundJay
This is a good site for video and podcast projects.  Supporting Units: weather, business, family & consumer sciences, transportation, and backgrounds for podcast projects.

Soungle
This site has an amazing amount of sound effects for student projects.  These save as .wav files, which work well in Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, Audacity, and Garage Band.  Supporting units: weather, emotions, dance, animals, water, and special effect sounds for podcasts.
