GED General Information and Registration
The GED is a high school-equivalency test. Our GED classes prepare the student to take and pass the test. (Please call (803) 821-2950 for further enrollment information.) The test itself is given by the state of South Carolina. The tests are normally conducted on Saturday mornings, but Wednesday dates have been added in Columbia, and certain other cities will give the test on Fridays. For a list of dates that the examination will be given, click here. If you would like to see the list by location, click here.
Students begin the program by taking a pretest to determine areas of weakness. Class work is then individualized to meet the student’s needs. A minimum of 12 hours study/instruction is required, but the student may stay in the program as long as he/she wishes. Hints on how to take the essay portion of the writing exam may be found here.
GED classes are open to anyone 17 years old or older who is not currently enrolled in public school.
Fees are waived for clients of the Lexington Workforce Center. Register with the Workforce Center before signing up for classes.
