Lexington County School District One’s Governmental Relations Committee works to improve communication with our elected officials by providing effective, two-way communication with elected officials; promoting our schools’ relationships with elected officials; informing others of legislative issues or matters of interest before elected bodies and organizing groups of individuals willing to give input to elected officials.
Members of the Governmental Relations Committee generally consist of two representatives per school:
Representatives commit to serving a one-year term and are trained by the Communications Office. Additionally, each member receives a handbook, which can be found below, and is informed of all legislative updates as appropriate.
This is an extremely important committee, and we appreciate the fact that these individuals are giving their time. If you are interested in serving on this committee, contact Mary Beth Hill.
Even if you are not serving on the Governmental Relations Committee, we encourage our parents, staff members, and community to remain active in legislation that directly affects our school district and our students. Use the links below to find your state and federal legislators.
