Ms. Smith has been teaching at Gilbert Elementary for eight years. The last six years have been as a fourth grade teacher. Before teaching fourth grade, she was a Title One Reading Teacher for two years. Ms. Smith received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina Aiken and a Masters of Education from Lander University. She also has the distinction of being National Board Certified. Her reputation for "going the extra mile" for her students has won her the honor of being Gilbert Elementary's Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010.
