The Library Media Center's
Mission Statement 4K students may
check out one book at a time during the entire school year. 5K students may check out one book at a time during
the first semester and two books at a time during the second semester.
1st grade students and 2nd grade students may check out two books at a time during the entire school year.
Student books are due one week from
the check-out date.
Each teacher may check-out a maximum
of 50 items.
Teacher check-outs are due one month
from check out date.
Parents of students attending GPS
may check-out five books at a time; these books must be returned or
renewed in two weeks.
Overdue notices are issued the first
full week of each month.
No fines will be charged for overdue
books.
Fines will be charged for lost or
damaged books. If a lost book is found that has
been paid for during the school year, a refund will be given.
We accept age appropriate
books for ages pre-school through 2nd grade. We accept books in excellent condition. We accept hard cover books, board books, paperback books, book sets, and books on tape.
We accept cash donations for the purchase of books. Parents send $12.00 to school. (Make checks payable to GPS.) The student or parent selects a book
to be donated from a designated collection of books in the Library Media
Center's office. The child's name and birth date are
placed on a bookplate in the front of the donated book. The book is
presented to the child on the Gilbert Primary television show. The
child is allowed to be the first to check out the donated book. Once
the book is returned, it becomes a part of the regular collection for
everyone to enjoy. The child's name and picture are placed on a
balloon and displayed with the Library Media Center's Birthday Book
Clowns. In May, the Library Media Center hosts a party to
celebrate all Birthday Book Club Members' birthdays with cake, ice cream
and treats. Last year we celebrated 115 birthdays!
