  • Special Services

Our school guidance counselors, Ms. Goff and Ms. McMillan, are available daily for our students, staff and families.

Our guidance counselors help children learn about the importance of sharing their feelings, being a good friend, using manners, solving problems and appreciating differences.  The counselors also coordinate school-wide awareness activities such as Red Ribbon Week, Career Education Week and character education.

Speech services are available for any student with a current IEP (Individualized Education Plan) or any student who needs an evaluation and qualifies for speech.  The speech therapists provide therapy in many areas such as articulation therapy, language therapy, fluency therapy, and voice therapy.  Most students who receive speech services come to speech therapy twice a week for thirty minutes.  The students are grouped according to their grade level and area of therapy.  There are three speech therapists at GPS.  Ashley Keisler is at GPS full-time.  Laura Spears works with students at GPS and GES.  They serve "speech only" students as well as students in the Pre-School Self-Contained Class and the 5K Inclusion Class.    Lindsay Brown serves children in our Developmentally Delayed Class as well as       3- and 4-year-old speech students who are not enrolled at GPS.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school at 821-1400 and ask to speak with one of the   speech therapists.

Kayla Arsi is part of our Intervention Team.  Amy Derrick is the secretary for our Special Services Team.  Tracy Spires serves our students in the ESOL program.
