Pleasant Hill Middle and River Bluff High named finalists for Palmetto’s Finest Awards

Dr. Thomas Rivers with Molly SpearmanOn Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, a representative from the South Carolina Association of School Administrators contacted Dr. Thomas E. Rivers, principal of PHMS, and Dr. Lucas C. Clamp, principal of RBHS, to let them know their schools are finalists for 2018 Palmetto’s Finest Awards.

As both principals know, the competition for these awards is very tough.

The application process includes elements on student achievement, instructional programs, professional learning communities and school culture as well as extensive evaluations by fellow educators and previous Palmetto’s Finest winners.

Dr. Lucas ClampLast fall, both schools submitted a 20-page application and received an onsite examination visit by a review committee. PHMS and RBHS now receive a second onsite evaluation.

The final announcement happens on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 1:45 p.m. and will be streamed live to each of the finalist schools.
