Lexington County School District One will hold a two-week-long early registration period for children entering Lexington District One for the first time in the 2019–2020 school year as 4-year-old kindergartners, 5-year-old kindergartners or first-graders.
From Jan. 28, 2019, through Feb. 8, 2019, parents can go to the elementary school in their attendance area to register their child from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Schools will offer longer hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 7 only.
To determine your child’s school, go to our website at lexington1.net, hover over the “Schools” tab, choose the “School Locator” link and fill out your information.
To enroll your child, bring your child’s birth certificate, a completed South Carolina Certificate of Immunization and proof of residency.
For proof of residency, bring a current electric bill/statement or other utility bill showing your name and home address within the district, and your South Carolina driver’s license or other state or federal photograph identification.
If you are unable to produce any of the documents listed above, please contact the school or the Office of Student Services at 803-821-1029 to discuss alternative documentation that may be acceptable.
4-year-old kindergarten program
If your child will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2019, your child may be eligible for a 4-year-old kindergarten program. You must apply for the program at the primary or elementary school in your attendance zone.
5-year-old kindergarten program
If your child will be 5 years old by September 1, 2019, your child is eligible for 5-year-old kindergarten. You must register your child at the elementary school in your attendance zone, even if your child currently attends a 4-year-old kindergarten program in another location.
If your child will be 6 years old by September 1, 2019, your child is eligible for first grade.
If your child currently attends the 5-year-old kindergarten program in Lexington District One, you do not need to enroll your child for first grade. This is done automatically for you.
If, however, your child currently attends a private 5-year-old kindergarten program, you must register your child at the elementary school in your attendance zone.
