Lexington District One students exceed state average in all grades, subjects

Lexington County School District One students recorded higher scores and pass rates than the state in all grades and subjects in the End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) assessments and WIN Ready to Work (R2W) Career Readiness Assessment.

End-of-Course Examination Program
The End-of-Course Examination Program includes assessments in Algebra I, Biology I, English I and U.S. History, which count 20 percent of each student’s final course grade.

In all four subject areas, Lexington District One students tested well above the state average, in both average score and percentage of students receiving an A or B.

The following table shows the percentage of Lexington District One students who scored an A or B on each End-of-Course Examination Program assessment as compared to the percentage of students statewide.

WIN Ready to Work (R2W) Career Readiness Assessment
South Carolina administered the WIN Ready to Work (R2W) Career Readiness Assessment to all 11th-grade students last year. This assessment measures achievement in three key subjects, Applied Mathematics, Locating Information and Reading for Information. 

Students received a customized credential, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum, based on their ability to perform complex tasks and qualify for a broader range of jobs. Of those Lexington District One students who took the assessment, 14.1 percent received a Platinum or Gold certificate, compared to 9.3 percent of students tested statewide.

The table below shows the average score in the key subjects assessed by the WIN Ready to Work (R2W) Career Readiness Assessment. Students could earn a maximum of 270 on Applied Mathematics and Reading for Information and a 240 on Locating Information.

Students also received either a “Pass” or “Fail” on the Essential Soft Skills Assessment portion of the WIN Ready to Work (R2W) Career Readiness Assessment. The Essential Soft Skills assessed included Cooperation with Others; Resolving Conflicts and Negotiation; Solving Problems and Making Decisions; and Observing Critically and Taking Responsibility for Learning.
