Summer reading offers students an opportunity to enjoy quality literature while growing their independent reading skills.
Students demonstrate their abilities through standards-based engagements in comprehension and vocabulary. This self-directed experience allows students to reinforce the skills they previously learned and prepares them for future learning.
In Lexington District One, every child scheduled to take an Honors English class at a middle or high school during the 2019–2020 school year must complete a summer reading assignment before the start of school.
