Dr. Sandy Jowers, Principal
Dr. Jowers is in her fourth year as principal of Pelion Middle School. After teaching English in South Carolina high schools for nineteen years, she served as the assistant principal of instruction at Pelion High School for eight years. She has a BA in English from Francis Marion University. Dr. Jowers also earned MED, EDS, and PHD degrees in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. She has South Carolina certification in the areas of English, Secondary Principal, and Superintendent. Dr. Jowers loves students and has a genuine interest in their success and well-being. When she's not busy with school events, her hobbies include reading mysteries and traveling with her family.
Mr. Smith, Assistant Principal
Mr. Smith is a veteran educator and administrator. He worked at Richland Northeast High School, Pelion High School, and as an Administrative Assistant at Pelion Elementary before coming to Pelion Middle School. Mr. Smith earned his B. A. and M. A. degrees from the University of South Carolina. Moreover, he holds a current teaching certificate in Social Studies as well as a principal's certificate. He and his wife, Pam, reside in nearby Red Bank. They have three children, and nine wonderful grandchildren. Mr. Smith is a committed professional, cares about students, and is excited to be a part of the Pelion Middle School Family.
Mrs. Pam Turner, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Turner has a bachelor's degree from Clemson University and master's degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She has ten years of experience in education serving as a School Counselor, and School Administrator on the elementary and high school level. Mrs. Turner is happily married with two children, and resides in Lexington, South Carolina. She is excited about the opportunity to work with the students, parents, and staff here at Pelion Middle School.
