Month of May

The whole month of May we will collect toys and food for pets to donate to the Lexington County Animal Shelters. PMS Student Council is sponsoring this service project for our community. The Home Room who collects the MOST items will have their picture taken (those with parental permission) with the Director of the Animal Shelters. The picture is to be submitted to the newspaper. Also , their class will receive a treat!

May 22, 2008: Sonic Night

Student Council will be hosting their final Sonic Night for PMS on May 22 - Please join us from 4 until 7 - we will receive 10% of All Sales that day - Same Lodation - Sonic near WKHS (Platt Springs Rd across from Wal-Mart) Thank you for your support. Leslie and Elizabeth and Student Council. A will be placed in the front office for any donations other than classroom collections. Each student council representative will be responsible to keep their HR donations in their classroom with a tally. May 30th will be the day we collect ALL donations with the HR tally for the competition. Any questions or suggestions see your HR represenrative or Mrs. Hamby or Ms. Short. November 20, 2007

Chick-fil-A will host Pelion Schools Spirit night this coming Tuesday! We will distribute to all homeroom the flyers that will be given to each student. The flyer will be given at the register or drive through when you purchase your food. We will receive 15% of all of these sales! If you forget to bring the flyer or know of family who wants to join in on the fun - just let the cashier know when you place your order you are from Pelion and want your percentage of sales to be included in the donation. Chick-Fil-A will donate percentage of sales all day Tuesday that are designated for Pelion.

November 11, 2007: Food Drive Ends

Our food drive is officially over - it has been quite a competition! Final tally of total food items collected: 1424! The class who collected the most items was Mr. Corey Erskine 8TH grade class (181 items) and coming in second place was Ms. Pamela Salley's 6th grade class with 165 items! They will celebrate with a pizza party! The total count for our college teams are:

these donations will be given to the Pelion Womens Club for their Christmas Community Projects! These projects benefit many of our students.
October 29, 2007: Food Drive

Our school food drive starts Monday Oct 29 th ! Collect cans (canned food only) in homeroom and list on chart each day the number of cans your homeroom collects for each team! Go Cocks! Go Tigers! The cans, once counted can be delivered to the front office area and placed in the appropriate team box. The Home room class who collected the most cans by November 16 th will have a pizza party! Last day will be Nov 16 th . We will announce the winning team the following week.

Our food drive starts this Monday, October 29th and continues through November 16th. These donations will be delivered to LICS (Lexington Interfaith Community Services). The following items that are needed the most in their Food Pantry is peanut butter, jelly, canned or dried Soup, canned meats, beef Stew, chicken & dumplings, tuna, mac & cheese, cereal, grits, oatmeal, canned vegetables, canned tomatoes, canned fruits, pork & beans, rice, and juice. As you will see more than just cans can be accepted.

WHO will receive the food your group collects? The LICS Food Pantry serves all of Lexington County and part of Calhoun County.

WHO is eligible for food help? Any Lexington County individual or family in crisis, that is struggling to meet their basic food needs.

WHO provides the LICS pantries with food? You … the Church, Schools, Groups and Businesses through food collection drives.

November 17, 2007: Festival of Giving

Sell tickets to the admission of the “Festival of Giving” for only $5 each (children under the age of 10 get in free). We will start the week of October 29 th until November 16 th . This event will be held on November 17, 2007(Saturday ) from 10am until 1pm at Columbiana Centre. This is an “extraordinary” day of shopping and entertainment with special store discounts, door prizes, music and free gift wrapping ! Drawing for door prizes will take place in the Food Court (around 12:50 pm). Shoppers will be entered into the drawings by leaving their ticket at the door (entrance of the Food Court ) when they enter that morning. You do NOT have to be present to win. 100% of the money goes to our PMS student council funds. The student council representatives will sale these tickets for $5 each and see Ms. Hamby or Ms. Short to receive the tickets. Must pay first. These tickets once purchased must be delivered to the person/s that purchased. Please do not lose these – they cannot be replaced NOR refunded !

November 1-30: Military Care Packages

Care packages for our military – start collecting the month of November – Suggestions: Chap Stick, small bottles of hand lotion (4 ounces or smaller), hard individual wrapped candy such as life savers, (No Chocolate - will melt), wrapped chewing gum, small children's toys size of happy meal toy, (No liquids such as bubbles). Student representative will collect these and deliver these to Room 505. Our goal is to have these mailed by November 30 th for them to receive before Christmas.

 

October 25, 2007: PMS Night At Sonic

The PTO & Student Council team-up to sponsor the first PMS Night at Sonic on Thursday, October 25, 2007 between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. Students and staff volunteers will serve the community eating at the Sonic across from new Wal-Mart on S. Lake Drive during this time, and receive 10% of all sales to go toward mailing military care packages in November.
