Pelion Middle School (PMS) is located in Pelion, South Carolina, approximately twenty-one miles southwest of Columbia, the capital city. Pelion Middle School is home to students from one feeder school, Pelion Elementary, and feeds into one high school, Pelion High School . Until the 2001-2002 school year, there was not a middle level school in the Pelion attendance area of Lexington School District One. Due to the influx of residents to this attendance area, the need for additional classroom space, and the desire to build a state of the art high school, a new facility was constructed for grades nine through twelve. Pelion Elementary School 's grades five and six joined Pelion High School 's grades seven and eight to form the “new” Pelion Middle School housed in the old Pelion High School building. The Pelion Middle School facility has been constructed and added on to a number of times over the years, with the oldest building completed in 1937 and the most recent renovations completed in 1990. As a result of the recent bond referendum, Pelion Middle received renovations to the existing building, the removal of the oldest structure (300 hall), and a two-story addition housing a science lab and 14 classrooms.

We are also growing together as a community of life-long learners by actively raising expectations, increasing academic rigor, engaging students in creative/exiting ways, providing guidance/advisement for all students, and getting our mission right.
