Dr. Sandy Jowers, Principal
Dr. Jowers is in her second year as principal of Pelion Middle School. After teaching English in South Carolina high schools for nineteen years, she served as the assistant principal of instruction at Pelion High School for eight years. She has a BA in English from Francis Marion University. Dr. Jowers also earned MED, EDS, and PHD degrees in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. She has South Carolina certification in the areas of English, Secondary Principal, and Superintendent. Dr. Jowers loves students and has a genuine interest in their success and well-being. When she's not busy with school events, her hobbies include reading mysteries and traveling with her family.
Mr. Smith, Assistant Principal
Mr. Smith is a veteran educator and administrator. He worked at Richland Northeast High School, Pelion High School, and as an Administrative Assistant at Pelion Elementary before coming to Pelion Middle School. Mr. Smith earned his B. A. and M. A. degrees from the University of South Carolina. Moreover, he holds a current teaching certificate in Social Studies as well as a principal's certificate. He and his wife, Pam, reside in nearby Red Bank. They have three children, and nine wonderful grandchildren. Mr. Smith is a committed professional, cares about students, and is excited to be a part of the Pelion Middle School Family for the sixth year.
Mrs. Alicia Prezzy, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Prezzy is a native of Tennessee and she loves "Rocky Top!" Upon completing her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education, she pursued her Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. Then, she relocated to Georgia, and worked for Cobb County Public Schools for ten ears where she served as a teacher and administrator. She received an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration from West Georgia University. Mrs. Prezzy married the love of her life, Jerome, in July, 2004. Together, they moved to South Carolina. Prior to becoming a Pelion Panther, she served one year as Curriculum Integration Specialist at Dent Middle School in Richland School District Two. She is excited about the opportunity to work with the students, parents, and staff here at Pelion Middle School.
Mrs. Michelle Smith, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Smith is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she received a Masters in Elementary Education and Administration. Upon completing her master's in administration, she left the classroom after eleven years to work at Pelion Middle School as an administrator. She has taught fifth, sixth, and eighth grades and all academic subjects. Mrs. Smith and her husband live in the Pelion community with their three children. She is very excited about being a part of the administrative team at Pelion Middle School, and enjoys working with the parents and students in our community.
