What is a wiki? Wikis can be extremely useful in the process of collaboration. Typically, they allow users to easily contribute text and files to a shared
workspace. User and viewers of the workspace can be limited or open to the public. Wikis are the workhorses of web2.0...they are not fancy but very functional. I have about a dozen wikis that I contribute to or manage. I think the biggest trick to making a wiki useful is the need to
change old habits. To be successful, I think it is imperative for users to transition from the notion of working individually to working in a collaborative mode. In the situations where I have seen this happen the wiki becomes a living work which is utilized both as a resource and as a tool for sharing.
