They are found in Northern Europe, Asia, and North America. * Leaves, lichens (small flowerless plant on rocks, trees, etc.), mosses, sedges (grassy plants in wet areas), and herbs are the favorite food of reindeer. They are herbivores (plant eaters)! * The wolf is a natural predator or the caribou. * Reindeer are sometimes called Caribou. They are the same species. In Europe, it is known as the "reindeer". "Caribou" is the North American name for this deer. * Caribou herds migrate 2 times a year. * Reindeer hooves are large. They function like snowshoes to help reindeer walk on snow, serve as paddles in the water, and make efficient scoops when pawing through snow to uncover lichens.
