Why Does It Matter?Technology is a driving force in the world today and an integral part of the daily lives of our students. Schools are faced with the challenge of raising student achievement while at the same time preparing students for this constantly changing world. The real task is to empower students with digital literacy and a global mindset, enabling them to become creative, responsible, self-motivated learners, innovative thinkers, and productive citizens who are respectful of the world and its inhabitants. |

How Is Technology Being Used at WKES? |

| Students and teachers are excited about extending learning through the use of technology. Researching with Open Mind 2, podcasting, and creating Photo Stories are just a few projects that have been done. One of the most exciting developments this year has been involvement with blogging. We currently have over 220 students who are blogging this year using the blog host 21 Classes. Blogs provide an avenue for students to reflect upon their learning, to share their ideas, and to reflect upon the work of others.
