Adult ESL - English Skills for Life and Work

  • ESL Students Lexington One Adult ESL uses Cambridge Ventures Leveled book series, additional supporting materials as well as online resources for our course work. All materials and resources used are designed for student success toward increased English language fluency and proficiency.

Registration takes approximately 1 hour and is by appointment. Please do not bring children with you. Registration fee is $60 which includes registration and book fee.

Students will receive orientation at the beginning of each semester to familiarize them with our school, their materials and the program and classroom expectations.

At the beginning of each course students are given a pre-test to determine their starting classroom level. ALL students must commit to a minimum of 60 hours of classroom instruction. This minimum is the amount of time needed for students to show an increase in their English language proficiency. At the 60-80 hour timeframe students will be post-tested to confirm this level gain as well as guide further instruction.

We have a full computer lab that students may use during instruction hours.  Students are also able to use Public Libraries for free to access technology and the internet.

The Center observes the Lexington One School calendar and offers GED testing at our location. Closings are posted on the school/program announcement board.

    Enrollment Criteria:

    • English is not the student's first or native language.
