• The Lexington County School District One Food Service and Nutrition office is required by the SC State Department of Education and USDA to provide Nutrition Education opportunities for all students.

The Feeding Our Future newsletter is designed for youth and their families in afterschool settings. Each of the 12 issues provides basic nutrition information as well as activities that engage participants in a variety of food-related tasks and exercises. This curriculum provides opportunities for students to develop cooking skills and to try new foods with recipes that are quick and easy to make.

The Feeding Our Future newsletter is also intended to improve student's eating and exercise habits, help students come to school ready to learn, meet the federal mandate on nutrition education, provide practical tips reviewed by a registered dietitian, and educate families about healthy habits at home.

To learn more about Feeding Our Future, see the attached PDF documents, contact Ashley Summers (asummers@lexington1.net) or call 803-821-1231.
