Important Information about School Lunch Prices for the 2022-2023 School Year
For two years, public schools across the country, including Lexington District One, provided no-cost breakfast and lunch meals to all students thanks to waivers through the United States Department of Agriculture associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. This federal funding and waiver system expired on June 30, 2022, and Congress did not extend the program.
Therefore, students will be required to begin paying for meals again when school begins in August, unless they qualify for the Free and Reduced Meals Program.
If you believe that you might qualify for free or reduced meals, you MUST complete this online application. The online applications open July 19, 2022.
We encourage families to complete the meal benefit application as soon as possible after July 19th to ensure their student is able to enjoy low-cost, nutritious meals when school starts in August.
For families who do not qualify for free or reduced meals, meal prices for next school year (2022–23) are listed below:
Lunch
Elementary: $3.30
Secondary: $3.30
Employees and Visitors: $4.50
Milk: $0.60Breakfast
Elementary: $1.80
Secondary: $1.80
Employees and Visitors: $2.90Thank you for your understanding as we adjust our program based on federal guidelines. If you have any questions, please contact Ashley Summers at 803-821-1231.
