Heather Current

Welcome to a great year as a Midway Mustang! My name is Heather Current. This will be the start of my 16th year of teaching. I am originally from central Illinois, where I taught for 9 years before my husband’s job took us to Florida, where I taught for 2 years. My husband’s job moved us yet again and that is how I ended up in Lexington, South Carolina. We have been in Lexington for the last 6 years. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in elementary education and my master’s degree in reading, both from Illinois State University. Our daughter, Evie, attends Midway and will be in 4th grade this year. Our son, Cooper, who turned 4 in August, will be in good hands at daycare. My husband, Mike, is the director of player development for the University of South Carolina baseball team, so, of course, we are huge Gamecock fans! You can find us on the ball field during baseball season. I look forward to working with you and your 4th grader this year!

Welcome to 4th grade! This is my 18th year teaching and 8th year at Midway having fun with kids.  I have loved watching kids grow, learn, and explore new things. I look forward to seeing how much growth will be made this year in the 4th grade.

I have a degree from Columbia College in Elementary Education. I am certified in both Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I also have a master’s degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College and hold a National Board Certification in Early Childhood.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family. I am married and have two boys who also attend Lexington 1 schools. I also love spending time with my sweet Cockapoo. She is my one and only girl!

I cannot wait to work with our parents and students toward our vision to "empower each child to design the future." Go Mustangs!

Hello Mustangs! I am so excited to start another year at Midway. I grew up in Alabama but have lived in South Carolina for 21 years. I live in Lexington, with my husband Scott and 2 daughters, who are in 11th grade at Lexington High School and 7th grade at Pleasant Hill. We spend a lot of time at ball fields for our children but when I have free time I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time at the beach. I look forward to a great year!

My name is Lauren Stuckey, and I am so excited to begin my thirteenth year in education here at Midway! I graduated from the University of South Carolina, and I am a huge Gamecock fan! Although we are not military, my family has had the opportunity to move quite a bit the last twelve years. I have had the opportunity to teach many different grade levels and work with some amazing educators! It was a fabulous experience, but we are so happy to be home in Lexington, South Carolina!

I have been teaching since 2015. I love 4th grade and especially Math and Science, which is great because it's my focus! I live in Cayce with my two darling cats, Little Gray and ButtButt. I am an active participant of STEAM in the Parks which is part of Expeditions in Education. In the summer of 2022, I went to New River Gorge National Park & Preserve, then in 2023 I got to experience a week at Cumberland Island National Seashore in south Georgia. I love bringing math and science to life with real life skills that can also incorporate the natural world around us.
