Instructional Services
By translating Lexington District One’s strategic plan into daily classroom practices, our the Instructional Services Division aligns vision, curriculum, and instruction to support the district’s mission to guide all students to learn, grow, and excel.
Our work begins with the destination in mind. The Graduate Profile serves as our guiding vision, defining the nine essential competencies every student develops prior to graduation: Knowledgeable, Creative Thinker and Problem Solver, Independent Learner, Communicator, Collaborator, Future-ready Literate, Personally and Socially Responsible, Kind, and Resilient.
To ensure high-quality instruction is available to every student across all district schools, we rely on a common Instructional Framework. Built upon 30 key practices, this framework standardizes quality teaching and monitoring across five core domains:
- Cultivate the Environment: Establishing safe, respectful, and well-organized learning spaces where students take academic risks.
- Plan the Learning: Unpacking standards to design clear learning targets, success criteria, and scaffolded student experiences.
- Implement the Plan: Leading engaging, student-centered lessons driven by gradual release and higher-level questioning.
- Assess the Outcomes: Utilizing frequent formative and summative data to provide actionable feedback.
- Grow the Professional: Engaging in continuous reflection, collaboration, and professional learning to refine practice.
The Learn, Grow, Excel Playbook operationalizes our strategic plan through four interconnected components designed to provide support to educators.
| Plan | Strategic Focus and Purpose |
|---|---|
| Curriculum Management | Establishes systemic procedures to design, deliver, and evaluate. |
| Assessment | Guides a balanced system of diagnostic, formative, and summative measures to track student growth and support data-informed instruction. |
| Instructional Technology | Ensures access to an integrated system of digital tools and resources and supports safe, effective technology use to help students develop key skills for the future. |
| Professional Learning | Outlines a professional learning program that is targeted, job-embedded and equips educators to execute the District’s Instructional Framework effectively. |
