The Family Center

Model certified family educators implement the Parents As Teachers model, using a fundamental approach: partner, facilitate, and reflect. Families receive support through bi-weekly visits to homes or in our school-based center. Our goal is to empower families in becoming their child's first and most influential teacher, leading to school success

Families participate in an engaging hour of family involvement and education for young learners. Ms. Amy, the Librarian from Lexington Main Library, entertains with stories, songs, and interactive finger plays. Families can also display their creativity through an educational activity.

Families have the opportunity to connect with one another while accessing valuable educational resources focused on child development, discipline, and early learning strategies. Engaging, hands-on learning experiences are offered, which not only strengthen parental bonds but also make learning fun. These group connections foster community, enhance child development, and support positive parenting practices, benefiting children's social-emotional growth and academic readiness in the long run.

Families can socially connect while engaging in interactive, age specific, educational experiences. These settings help young children explore, make friends, learn life skills, and build confidence. Additionally, parents can connect with others, access parenting resources, and support their children's early development.

The goal of this program is to engage teen parents in reflection, problem solving, and decision making. Strengthening their knowledge of their child’s emerging development and increasing the frequency, duration, and quality of parent-child interactions. Family Educators support families through any challenges they may face and connect them to resources.

Families enjoy literature in a way that allows all ages to experience the best in books, nursery rhymes, finger plays, storytelling, songs, bilingual storytime, multicultural dancers, and more!
