Limited School Choice

Lexington County School District One will offer some limited school choice opportunities during the 2025–26 school year. This limited school choice option allows Lexington One students to attend schools outside of their regular attendance area, when space is available.

The district is unable to offer limited choice at every school because many of our schools are already at capacity. The district will, however, offer spots at the following schools for the 2025–26 school year.

  • 10 seats at Carolina Springs Elementary;

  • 10 seats at Lexington Elementary;

  • 10 seats at Meadow Glen Middle;

  • 10 seats at Pelion Elementary;

  • 10 seats at Pelion High;

  • 10 seats at Pelion Middle;

  • 10 seats at Pleasant Hill Middle School;

  • 10 seats at Red Bank Elementary;

  • 10 seats at Saxe Gotha Elementary;

  • 10 seats at South Lake Elementary; and

  • 10 seats at White Knoll Middle

To register your child for a school choice opening, you must be a legal resident of Lexington County School District One and provide proof of residency. To apply for a limited school choice seat for your child, please complete the below form before 4 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2025.

If the district receives more applications than available seats at any one choice school, district administrators will hold a lottery drawing for the slots at the affected school(s) on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 4 p.m. in the School Administration Conference Room of the Central Services Office located at 100 Tarrar Springs Road in Lexington. Although parents are welcome to attend, they do not need to be present at the drawing for their student(s) to be qualified for the lottery.

IMPORTANT: Due to a shortage of school bus drivers, the district cannot provide bus transportation for children attending schools outside of their regular attendance area. Parents/guardians MUST provide transportation for these children.

Remember, too, that your child will receive the same curriculum as other students at the choice school. For example, if your child currently attends a school that teaches French as its world language and your child goes to a choice school that offers a different world language, your child must take the world language provided at the new school.
