I am so honored to be the principal of Beechwood Middle School, home of the Bengals!  I have worked in education since 1990 when I began my career in Ohio as a Spanish and English teacher.  I moved to South Carolina in 1998 and began teaching Spanish at Hammond School in Columbia and then at Ridge View High School in Blythewood.  I joined the Lexington One family in 2000 teaching Spanish at White Knoll Middle School.  In 2004, I moved to Lexington Middle School as a technology integration specialist. In 2012, I began my career in administration as an assistant principal at Lexington Middle School.  In 2014 I became principal of Lexington Middle School. In December of 2018, I was appointed principal of Beechwood Middle School and spent the following months working on opening this amazing school!

While at White Knoll Middle School and Lexington Middle School I was named Teacher of the Year.  I am a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and English from Kent State University and a Master of Education in educational administration from Ashland University.

It is a privilege to be a part of the Beechwood Middle School family again this year. Prior to being a Bengal, I earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Carson Newman University and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Anderson University. I began my work in education 21 years ago in Tennessee as a middle school chorus teacher. After moving back home to Lexington, South Carolina, I continued teaching chorus at Lower Richland High School. Then I had the opportunity to open Pleasant Hill Middle School where I taught for 15 years. In 2021, I shifted my work to administration and was thrilled to become a Beechwood Begal. I am looking forward to the coming year with great enthusiasm and excitement. Go Bengals!

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. I am grateful to be part of the outstanding staff at Beechwood Middle School. The 2022-2023 school year begins my 26th year in Education and my 17th year in middle school. I will serve as the 7th grade administrator at BMS for this school year.

Prior to joining the staff at BMS, I began my educational career as a high school social studies teacher / coach at Gilbert High School. After 9 years at GHS I moved into administration. I have served as an administrator at Lexington Middle School (2 Years), Pleasant Hill Middle School (11 years), and Beechwood Middle School (3 years).

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family of five and our golden-doodle Chewie. My hobbies include officiating high school sports, coaching AAU basketball, attending Newberry College and USC sporting events, and camping. My family and I are active in our local church where I teach an adult Sunday School class, volunteer with the youth, and participate in a men’s group known as REAL.

My educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in History from Newberry College (1994), a Masters of Arts in Teaching Social Studies from the University of South Carolina (1997), a Masters of Education with a focus on Educational Administration from University of South Carolina Social Studies (2006), and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University (2019).
