Robertson joins Lexington Elementary as assistant principal

Albert H. Robertson, Lexington District One’s social studies coordinator, will join Lexington Elementary School as assistant principal.

Robertson joined Lexington District One in 2006 as a social studies teacher at Pleasant Hill Middle School. In 2012, he transferred to Meadow Glen Middle School when the school opened, teaching seventh grade social studies. He also served as seventh grade house leader, social studies department head and the district’s lead teacher for middle school social studies.

An award-winning educator, Robertson was selected as Lexington District One’s Teacher of the Year in 2014, and ranked as a Top 5 finalist for South Carolina Teacher of the Year. He was also named the 2016 South Carolina History Teacher of the Year.

In 2016, Robertson was promoted to social studies coordinator for the district.

Robertson earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Newberry College and a Master of Education in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. He holds elementary administration as well as middle- and high school-level social studies certifications.

Robertson is a member of the Palmetto State Teachers Association, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, S.C. Council for the Social Studies, S.C. Social Studies Supervisors Association, S.C. Geographic Alliance and the S.C. Middle School Association.
