Per South Carolina law, students in their third year of high school have the option to take a free college entrance exam. Students can choose between the ACT and SAT test. Lexington School District One encourages ALL students to take at least one of these tests. Even if you may not be considering college at this time, it is a good opportunity for all students. The school district also uses the summary results of these assessments to inform the continuous improvement of our curriculum and instructional programs. There is no cost to students or families for these tests; the cost of one test is covered for each student. In addition, the school will take care of all registration requirements.The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) offered by the College Board, and the ACT generally test the same types of content. Both ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions and merit-based scholarships. The biggest differences between the tests are that the ACT has a Science Test, and there is one SAT Math Section for which you are not permitted to use a calculator. Colleges do not prefer one test over the other, so explore both tests to decide which one is right for you.

Your third year high school student has the opportunity to take the ACT® or the SAT® in the spring semester at RBHS. The testing is funded by the State so there is no cost to you. The tests will be administered during a school day. Please select one of the choices for your student by Friday, November 17. Make note that the ACT is a paper administration and the SAT is a digital administration on students' MacBooks. Click here to select the assessment.
