Lexington District One names Miller Chief Financial Officer

On May 10, 2022, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Jennifer L. Miller, CPA, as the district’s new chief financial officer, effective July 1, 2022. Miller is currently the chief financial officer for Sumter School District.

An accounting professional for 21 years, Miller began her career in 2001 as an auditor at Deloitte and Touché. She soon took a position as a senior accountant at Rogers and Laban in Columbia, performing audit, review and compilation engagements for various clients, including manufacturing, construction, governmental and nonprofit entities. She also conducted audit risk assessment, audit planning and design, budgeting, evaluation of internal controls, supervision of audit procedures, testing, analysis and documentation.

In 2005, Miller became the regional managing partner for WebsterRogers LLP in Sumter. In this role, she managed the audit department, in addition to overseeing offices across the Midlands. Miller participated in the S.C. Department of Education’s Annual Audit Guide committee; the Government Finance Officers Association’s Special Review Committee; and the S.C. State Board of Accountancy’s Quality Control Reviewer for Positive Reinforcement Program.

In 2018, Miller joined Sumter School District as the district’s chief financial officer, supervising the district’s funds, payroll operations, employee benefits, purchasing, accounts payable, internal auditing and property and worker’s compensation insurance programs.

Miller graduated from University of South Carolina in 2001, with a triple major in accounting; finance; and insurance and risk management. She became a certified public accountant in 2004. She is a member of the Sumter Junior Welfare League and is a founder and past president of the Young Professionals of Sumter.
