On April 26, 2022, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Lori B. Meyers as the new principal of Lexington Elementary School. She replaces current Principal Tim Carnahan, who is transferring to Midway Elementary School. Meyers currently serves as the interim assistant principal at Rocky Creek Elementary School.

An educator for 18 years, Meyers has spent her entire career in Lexington District One. She began as a second grade teacher at Red Bank Elementary in 2004. In 2008, Meyers transferred to Saxe Gotha Elementary, where she taught first grade.

She moved to Meadow Glen Elementary when the school opened in 2011 to teach first grade, earning MGES Teacher of the Year in 2012. In 2016, she became the school’s digital learning coach and the school’s literacy coach in 2017.

In 2018, Meyers was promoted to assistant principal at MGES, where she served until 2022. During this time, MGES earned a 2018 Palmetto Gold Award and a 2019 Palmetto Silver Award. She transferred to RCES to serve as the school’s interim assistant principal earlier this year.

Meyers was a 2022 SCASA Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year nominee and is a recent graduate of the Lexington District One Aspiring Principals Academy.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in business administration (1997) and in early childhood education (2004), as well as a Master of Education in divergent learning from Columbia College, Meyers also received a Master of Education in educational administration from University of South Carolina. She is currently working toward completing her Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction, with an education technology concentration from University of South Carolina.

Meyers is a member of the Palmetto State Teachers Association and the South Carolina Early Childhood Association.
