Gillespie named Lexington District One director of finance

At the January 10, 2023 meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Cynthia (Cindi) P. Gillespie as the new director of finance.

Gillespie joins Lexington District One after serving as the director of accounting at Richland School District Two.

Gillespie started her career in finance in May 1988, when she joined Rogers Montgomery & Co. and advanced to an audit manager. Six years later, she started a job at Lexington Medical Center where she became their director of accounting. In June of 1999, Gillespie began working at SCANA Corporation (now Dominion Energy) and held the title of senior accountant for SEC reporting for three years. For the next six years, Gillespie furthered her professional experience in finance and support. She started a job at the Volunteers of America of the Carolinas as a controller, and she then became the senior financial consolidations analyst at Solectron Corporation (now Flex LTD) in 2005. In 2008, Gillespie became a software implementation and support consultant at Blytheco, LLC.

In August 2008, Gillespie was hired in Lexington School District Two as the director of finance where she held this job for nine years. Gillespie moved to EuroLux in Oct. 2018, working in accounting and order processing. She joined Lexington School District Four in 2017, as a consultant, assisting the CFO. Two years later, she became the district’s interim chief financial officer. Richland School District Two hired Gillespie as a coordinator of special revenue at the end of 2019. She then became their director of accounting two years later.

Gillespie graduated from the University of South Carolina, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She has been licensed as a certified public accountant since 1991.
