The Law Center truly changed my life. I was exposed to a variety to key issues and areas of study. Through externships, unique assignments, and unparalleled networking opportunities, I gained a passion for the fields of law and policy. Now, I plan to attend law school after graduating from the South Carolina Honors College, with my senior thesis focused on k-12 education policy inequality. These two decisions are a direct result of the impact of the CLGPD.

My time with the law and global policy center was an extremely rewarding experience that I will never forget. Although I didn’t pursue a career in the legal field it shaped my critical thinking skills that have inherently increased life saving decisions that I’ve made during my time in the military. I always loved arguing with my classmates and the overall fun and engaging conversations that we had.

I made many connections with important people, which helped me get a summer job and I had many experiences that helped me shape my views. I met some lifelong friends and I had some of my favorite teachers. My favorite memory of the Law Center was when someone broke Burgess’s favorite mug. Also going to parades and campaigning for Lindsey Graham.

I discovered my passion for addressing education inequity during my time in the Center for Law & Global Policy. The center's externship experiences set me up to do the education policy work I'm doing today by providing me opportunities to explore different areas of ed policy from the campaign, law, and bureaucratic perspectives.
