Demographics and Facilities Studies

Facilities Planning

Lexington County School District One is conducting a comprehensive Facilities Study to ensure our schools remain safe, modern and prepared for the future. This assessment provides detailed data to help the Board, district leaders and the entire Lexington One community:
Address growth
Identify safety and maintenance needs
Provide equitable learning environments
Prioritize long-term improvements
Make responsible decisions about taxpayer investment

Stay Informed — The conversation about our facilities is just beginning. We will provide regular updates in the section below and in our "Inside Voice" and "Board Recap" newsletters.

2026 Updates

Demographics

In the fall of 2023, the Lexington One Board of Trustees approved funds from the fund balance to procure a firm to perform a demographics analysis for Lexington County School District One. The purpose of this demographics study was to assist in the long-term planning for the district.

Demographic Analytics Advisors (DAA) was selected as the contractor for this demographics study, which was presented to the Board of Trustees at the Dec. 17 board meeting.

The demographics report prepared by DAA will be used by the architecture and planning firm of McMillan Pazdan Smith in conducting a comprehensive facility study for the district.

Facilities Study

Lexington One contracted with McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture to conduct this comprehensive facilities assessment. With more than 69 years of experience in K–12 school design, their team of planners, architects and engineers evaluated the condition of every school building and property across the district.

Strong learning begins in safe, healthy environments. Our schools must support student success, community connection and a range of learning needs.
