The Learning Commons is both a physical and virtual space staffed by the school librarian, technology integration specialist, instructional coaches, support staff, and trained students. It is a flexible and responsive approach to helping students and educators collaboratively focus on learning. It expands the learning experience, taking students and educators into virtual spaces beyond the walls of the school. The Learning Commons is a vibrant, whole-school approach, presenting exciting opportunities for collaboration among teachers, School Librarian, Technology Integration Specialist, Instructional Coach, and students.
Physical Learning Commons
The Learning Commons is a cultural hub of the school that supports research, production, live performances, author visits, student presentations, community speakers, and school initiatives. It is the physical space where learners meet to read, conduct research, test out ideas with others, and work to creatively share their new understandings.
Experimental Learning Commons
The Experimental Learning Commons is the physical space where administrators and faculty conduct action research and refine new teaching approaches. Learners try out new technologies and digital tools before they are introduced in the rest of the school.
Virtual Learning Commons
The Virtual Learning Commons is the virtual spaces where learners meet to read, conduct research, test out ideas with others, and work to creatively share their new understandings.
