Hello Bengal Families!
It is with great excitement and optimism that I write this letter to you. Middle school is an amazing and unique time of personal growth for an early adolescent. As your new principal, I am honored to walk alongside you and your child through their middle school journey and have confidence that the 2023-24 school year will be magnificent as our Bengals lead locally and serve globally.
Our talented teachers and staff are already hustling to prepare for our students and families in August! We are committed to developing meaningful learning experiences that empower our students to design the future and cultivate a caring community. As an IB World School, we develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people. Beechwood Middle School pledges to be a safe haven for our Bengals’ physical and emotional well-being.
Here is some information that will help our Bengals get ready for a great new school year!
Annual Registration - Now
All parents should have received an email from Lexington School District One with directions related to Annual Registration. You will register your student(s), complete paperwork, upload documents, and pay fees through your PowerSchool Parent Portal.
School Supplies and Beech Wear (District Dress Code)
Before you begin shopping, you will want to review the school supply list and the Lexington School District One dress code information on our website at bms.lexington1.net under the Student/Families tab.
School Day
The day begins at 8:05 and ends at 3:15. It is very important that students arrive on time to get the most out of their time at school.
Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pick Up/Car Tags
Our drop off and pick up procedures allow for a safe and orderly arrival and dismissal for our students and guarantee minimal carline wait time for our parents and guardians. Each student will be assigned a car tag number. This year all of our Bengals are receiving a new car tag, which can be picked up at BMS on July 26th from 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., during Bengal Bootcamp and/or at the Bengal Bash. It is important that car tags are picked up prior to the first day of school to support a smooth dismisssal process for our car riders. Here is a traffic map to help you navigate our drop off and pick up procedures. Remember to leave home with plenty of time for your student to arrive, enter the building, and get to class before the 8:05 bell.
Meals
The food service team continues their commitment to ensure students can begin the school day with a nutritious breakfast ($1.80) and refuel during lunch time ($3.30). We encourage families to register to be able to make online payments and/or to complete a meal benefit application if support would be helpful.
We eagerly anticipate the return of our Bengals and are thrilled to begin another school year with our Bengal family at the BEECH! Please stay connected with us by following us on Twitter and Facebook @BeechwoodMiddle, and Instagram @BeechwoodMiddleSchool!
